01About this policy
This policy explains how Skyzer Research Pty Ltd (“Skyzer Research”, “we”, “us”), a member of the Skyzer Group, collects, holds, uses and discloses personal information. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
It applies to information collected through skyzer-research.com and to enquiries and business dealings with us. It does not apply to other websites we link to, which have their own policies.
02What we collect
We collect only what we need. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include:
- Contact details: your name, organisation, role, email address and phone number.
- Enquiry content: whatever you choose to tell us in a message or meeting, such as a description of a project or problem.
- Business dealings: information needed to prepare proposals, enter into agreements (including non-disclosure agreements) and deliver work.
- Technical information: standard web server logs created when you visit the site, such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and the date and time of the request.
We do not ask for sensitive information (such as health, racial or political information) through this website. Please don’t include it in an enquiry. Where a project requires security-related information about personnel (for example, for defence work), we will collect it separately, with your consent and only as required.
You can contact us without identifying yourself or by using a pseudonym, but we may not be able to respond meaningfully to an anonymous enquiry.
03How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you: when you complete our contact form, email or call us, meet with us, or enter into an agreement with us. We may also receive your details from a colleague of yours who introduces you, from other Skyzer Group companies, or from publicly available sources such as professional networking sites. Web server logs are created automatically by our hosting provider when you visit the site.
04How we use it
We use personal information to:
- respond to your enquiry and communicate with you;
- assess, propose, contract for and deliver engineering and research services;
- manage confidentiality, security and compliance obligations, including those required by defence or government clients;
- operate, secure and improve our website; and
- meet our legal, accounting and regulatory obligations.
We do not sell personal information.
05Who we share it with
We share personal information only where it is needed for the purposes above, with:
- other Skyzer Group companies that help deliver or support our work;
- service providers who host our website and email, or provide IT, professional and administrative services to us, under appropriate confidentiality obligations;
- clients, partners or subcontractors involved in a project you are part of, where relevant; and
- government agencies, regulators or others where required or authorised by law.
06Overseas disclosure
Our website is hosted by a provider that may store or process data, including server logs and form submissions in transit, on servers in the United States. Some of our IT and email service providers may also store data overseas. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it consistently with the APPs.
07Cookies and analytics
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, does not run third-party analytics, and does not load fonts or scripts from third-party services. Your hosting provider’s standard server logs are the only record of your visit. If we introduce analytics in future, we will update this policy first.
08Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Measures include access controls, encrypted connections (HTTPS) and confidentiality obligations on our people and providers. Skyzer Group operates an information security management system certified to ISO/IEC 27001.
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as required by law, and then securely destroy or de-identify it.
09Direct marketing
We don’t add enquirers to marketing lists. If we ever send you news about our work, it will be because you have asked for it or have an existing business relationship with us, and every message will let you opt out.
10Access and correction
You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable period, usually within 30 days. If we refuse a request, we will tell you why, unless the law prevents us from doing so.
11Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
